Who we share your data with
We use Klaviyo to send Newsletters to all our customers who subscribe to receiving them. These newsletters provide the latest news on promotions and activities being run by Fine Box Hardware. Users can choose to unsubscribe when they receive a newsletter by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of the page.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments/reviews made on our website are checked through our automated spam detection service. Customer reviews are processed through our site and also by Trustpilot – https://uk.trustpilot.com/ . Trustpilot acts as a third party for customer reviews, making it easier for consumers to trust product recommendations from other customers while also ensuring they are not fake.
Additional information
How we protect your data
We use SSL encryption (Secure Sockets Layer) on this e-commerce site. By ensuring that all data passed between the two parties remains private and secure, SSL encryption helps prevent hackers from stealing private information such as credit card numbers, bank information, names, and addresses. SSL certificates create trust with users by verifying that websites used to track finances and make online purchases are secure and legitimate.
An SSL certificate helps secure information such as:
- Login credentials
- Personally identifiable information — such as full name, address, date of birth, or telephone number
- Proprietary information
- Legal documents and contracts
Our SSL Certificate has Extended validation (EV) – Our browser’s URL bar contains a padlock. This type of certificate is a must-have for websites that handle sensitive information. It has the highest level of security5 and is the easiest to identify. In order to issue an EV certificate, the Certificate Authority performed an enhanced review of our company to increase the level of confidence in the business. The review process includes examination of corporate documents, confirmation of applicant identity, and checking the information with a third-party database. Users can know if a website holds an EV certificate if the browser’s URL bar contains a padlock and our company name is listed in green.
What third parties we receive data from
We use Trustpilot as our customer review site. We use Paypal and Stripe as our online payment systems so that customers can shop and pay effortlessly for our products. For Stripe, you are able to pay with a saved card during checkout. Card details are saved on Stripe Servers not on this store. All these third parties are reputable companies with enough security and consumer protection in place to keep our users relatively safe online.
